another blown sub ????

wait, I think you're confused about what a member said. He said to stop buying Duals.. He didn't mean the voice coil configuration. He was talking about the brand Dual, which is regarded very poorly in the audio community. He was implying that your sub was crap, not to change from dvc to svc.

Also, on your amp speaker outputs, you have the wires in the center 2 channels. It clearly says above the outputs that you need the speaker wires on the outside 2 channels. I don't think this has anything to do with your problem, but you probably just got a crap sub. put that DMM on the speaker outputs of the amp and play a song on the head unit. it will tell you an AC voltage that the amp is putting out to the sub (it will jump around because the rythm isn't constant bass unless you use a song like "put on" or something). Your sub wants 800 watts and wires down to 2 ohms so you take the square root of 800x2 to get the voltage you should be seeing at the speaker outputs terminals. In your case, sqrt(1600)=40V so the DMM should NOT be seeing over 40v.

It is best to do this with a constant test tone to record an accurate DMM measurement.

what song did it blow on? that box is tuned relatively high like 42-45hz if u where playing a song like i put on you could have over drivin the sub.

i have had the same thing happen with a c3 12 which is the same exact speaker with a different top assembly with 750wrms going to it.

the sub would play general rap great but anything with low low bass and it would heat up quick and get stinky eventually it blew out,

replaced the box with a sealed box 1 cubic foot and replaced the sub threw 1000wrms at it and it took it like a champ

true, didn't know the box was tuned that high. that is garbage

Sooo smaller box and smaller amp?? How much smaller it's hard to find a good amp at exactly 800 rms. all I want is a single 15 I have my choice in either Memphis m5/ audiopipe iCandy/ or a p3 / seald ported due to the location were I purchased my equipment tho they are really starting to tick me off. I listen to mainly southern rap low bass so if I go ported would 34hz be ideal for me???

Thanx for the response this has really cleared things up for me

something is set wrong, it has little to nothing to do with the amount of power your putting to it or what the box is tuned to, if all of these things where a factor my 2 500 watt rms subs would have died long ago seeing as they are on a memphis 2000 rms watt amp in a mtx 7500 pre-fab ported box, check the output of your amp using a test tone set it for what the amp is capable of doing without struggling and you should not have anymore issues, things like this occur when something is ran at 110% for 100% of the time if you need it louder stop trying to push the sub harder and focus on adding more cone area to the setup that way your not beating the hell out of it to get what you want, I destroyed a couple single 12"s trying to make them as "loud" as I wanted in the end I was just pushing them way to hard to the point of failure. when I added a second sub I did not need to push them nearly as hard to get as loud and have had no issues since.

When looking for an amp, the exact rms doesn't matter. You can control that when setting the gain. Also, the ideal tuning for you depends on the driver and enclosure design. Almost everyone will tell you to tune low, but it depends on your vehicle as well.
