Another Best Buy story.

Point is, They shouldnt have all the accessories in the install bay. All the fuses, wirering harnesses, install kits and everthing else that wasnt a sub or amp was in there. Some one had to go get one. Thats poor planning on the stores part. Maybe if the put them out for ppl to help themselves, this wouldnt be a cluster**** thread.

And acually it was an agu style fuse. And yes they carry them, but not the 100 amp one i wanted.

Ok, number one, one of the guys I work with spent a lot of time at best buy.
2) He knows his shit, and does good installs, as do plenty of best buy employees.

3) Best Buy does not provide most installers with keys to even open the door.

4) You cant hate a TV salesman for not knowing what an ANL fuse is... most beginners in car audio haven't even used one.

5) Best buy installers are scheduled on productivity in the bay, meaning the more customers he helps unrelated to install, the less hours he will get a week, and they dont get commission.

6) A lot of Best Buys dont even carry anything beyond AGU and MAXI unless its a laarger store.

7) The sales associate should have simply rang the bay and asked.

***8***) Doing 12 volt for a living myself, nothing is more annoying than salesmen dumping customers on me while I have cars lined up. Salesmen are there to sell, installers are there to install. As an installer, we are often in pressured environments at work. One slip with that panel tool or screwdriver, resulting in a simple dash scratch could lead to a damage claim that puts your job on the line. Not to mention if you take 2 hours to do a CD player install, the people above you are going to realize you're not profitable to employ. And thats exactly what happens when every 5 minutes a salesman drops a customer on you or trys to call you to come out of the bay to help them.

Though I still help, to make business go smooth and customers happy..I dont really blame him, I dont just throw all my tools down and get up either, Ill finish whatever subtask I may be doing, like running a power line, or setting gains.
hit the nail on the head. as a current bb installer i can also say that opening that door for customers is a loss prevention issue. if im not busy il gladly bring a product to the floor other wise customers have to drive around to the CUSTOMER entrance

ok, all you BB installers. So how does a person get a product that is in the install bay Protected by a locked door and no other car ppl around to help. I knocked, made eye contact, he went back to work. Ok, I waited like 5-6 minutes calmly untill I seen him walking towards the door again. I again made eye contact and knocked. He just walked by and ignored my. Thats when I went to the tv kid and asked how does one get product from inside if the install *** doesnt care. He said he will get the manager to find out. When the manager came over with the kid, the install dude came out bleeding. I laughed and made my comments. He left, and the manager went in with me to find the fuse.

So again, what would you have done? wait god knows how long for him to finnish an install? Why didnt he pick up the phone and ask for sales help? why the **** do you think I have inner knowledge to the workings and policies of intall techs and bb sales ppl. I just wanted a ****ing fuse.

Yes, Im sure he was pissed off. Like most companies , do more with less attitude. However, Thats not my problem. I went to a store to purchase an item and recieved poor service. both the install guy, and the other kids working there failed in thier jobs to make a sale. No wonder everone bashes them. I waited paitently, calmly for the dude to aknoledge, when he didnt I asked the tv dude if he could help, He went to the manager, not me.

In short, If your in the service industy, do your job or gtfo.
the install guy failed his job because he didn't make a sale? what demented world do you live in?

an installer does not sell items, therefore he did not fail his job. You were a customer who wanted to buy an item, and the salesman did not do his job. The installer was doing his job dilligently.

So, he was doing his job, perhaps you were the one who should have gotten the fuck out.

next time you go to a ****ing restaurant, yell at the cook because the host took forever to sit you.

yes, that would be great, BUt if you read They have all that stuff locked up in the install bay.

and if they guy said to drive around to the back customer door,, I would have, but instead he just chose to ignore me.

oh sorry I just assumed that your best buy would be like the 3 i have gone to and contain all the streetwires RCA's and wires and fuses in a little section.

He was probably working, that's why he ignored you.
