and it begins... my tweeter pillar pod project

since i had the day off today and my new mids didn't show up today i figured i'd start on my pillars. they are the RSD tweeters aimed perfectly on-axis. used some pvc pipe elbow fittings and drilled holes in my pillars for the pods. as of now they are just pushed into the pillar. i am not sure exactly how i will finish them yet and the progress may be a bit slow but this is them as of now.

a view right from the drivers side headrest showing that the left one is indeed 100% on-axis.

you are going to glass over that correct?
i think so, but not sure how yet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

whatever i do, it will look good at the end. trust me.

we're not worrying.. it's your car.
yup. i gotcha.

they will be finished soon. just gotta figure out what exactly i'm going to do. i'm also not 100% sure that i am going to continue to use these tweeters. but the ones i might end up using will fit in the same hole. so i wanna get everything sorted out first before i finish with fiberglass or whatever. just gotta get my new mids in first and do some listening and tuning and see what happens.

Looking good so far though man. just use some actual glass matt over that and not chop matt and you'll be good sand it prime it paint it look real nice. i like that idea though man looks real nice so far:D. gl with rest of your project man.

I'm pretty new to sq but wouldn't it image better if both tweeters were directed towards the middle of the vehicle?
it's all a compromise. face them both at the same spot in the vehicle, for example the middle like you asked, and it'll image ok for the passenger and the diver but worse for the driver than what i am doing.

i really could care less about my passengers. they don't know anything about SQ anyway so screw 'em. the way i have them aimed (on-axis to the driver) pretty much screws the passengers on the top end, but sounds best in the drivers seat. if you're not competing in a 2 seater class so it doesn't matter.

if you ever get a chance to try tweeters in the pillars at various angles, try it and listen carefully. putting them on-axis really brings out the top end and adds detail. i am hearing things i have never heard before in certain music.

IMO "on-axis" is the only way to go.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Screw them....I have mine in the stock door sails and I think my L1's sound pretty good but I would love to try an a-pillar install. If I could do fiberglass work I would definately try it out.

'scribed for results. Intriguing to say the least, makes me wanna do the same //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

made some progress... not sure if this is how i'll leave it but it definitely looks a million times better already. also, better pics will come in the morning once i can take a few without the flash.
