1. yes, that is what it did because it makes more heat at 2 ohms which causes the amp to heat up much faster than it does at 4 ohms, resulting in the amplifier reducing its output to avoid shutting off because after all, JL says it will operate at that ohm. i never said it drastically cuts back, but consistantly it will put out more at 4 ohms, where periodically it will put out more at 2 ohms, but that is kind of like you in bed. those two seconds are great huh?
2. you repeated yourself again. and yet my reply is the same.
no need to be an ******* when you ought to be having a bit more intelligent conversation....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ready2go.gif.6557fa3d88b9eaca9c7b8efb9cbd02ed.gif

just about every time I read a thread with you in it there ends up a fight...

sure Zapco is good...

but jl is still ok...

I wouldn't use JL but thats just me...

everyone here is entitled to their own opinions...

how does pointing out that because the amp gets hot it decreases in power contribute to this thread? every amp is that way...what do you want?

also...at 2 ohms with a correctly built amp the heat should not be too bad unless you are just driving around beating the crap out of the amp...

quite whinning. the thread is about amps for SQ, i stated my opinion if you can read. someone said JL, i pointed out a major flaw in their design. oh yea, and that part in red, you said it yourself.

It's extremely evident when someone is on the losing side of the battle and they know it.........because they know that their argument is weak and feel the only way to maintain the upper hand is to begin slinging personal insults.

not really, you just seem like a guy who takes himself way way too seriously. relax, its a hobby, not a religion.

Yeah, but unfortunately the value has gone up since the Xenon line has been discontinued.

However, i can pick up this PG amp:

http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOENIX-GOLD-OCTANE-R-8-0-1-MONO-SUB-AMPLIFIER-R8-0-1_W0QQitemZ300017717250QQihZ020QQcategoryZ18797QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

But i am a little confused by it. The rated RMS for 4 ohm is 400w, and 600 for 2 ohm. But MAX wattage is 800 @ 2 ohm? Is this due to a regulated power supply?

The octane r amps are rated at peak power. That amp is good for 600rms watts @ 2 ohms. The 800 watt listing is peak power.
