Amps for SQ

I have heard several times that the JL's send somewhat of a rough frequency. One of the local shops is suggesting Zapco's.

As far as the JL subs i am using....i am using them because i already have them. When it comes to updating my system, i will be alot more flexible on the brand/series i use.

zapco is far superior to JL. i replaced all of my amps in my truck with zapco this year, as soon as i could afford it. i sold a zapco 360.4 ref to istari1 this year as well, he is much happier from what i heard from him.

A rough frequency? What the hell is that?

Both Zapco and JL are great products, but to be honest, you could probably go with something cheaper and achieve the same results. However, I'm not telling you how to spend your money, so you wouldn't be disappointed at all with JL or Zapco. One thing to consider, I guess, is that JL has a very regulated output while Zapco does not. Meaning the 500/1 will put out exactly (or close to) its rated power all the time while a Zapco will produce fewer watts at a lower input voltage but more watts at a higher input voltage. Neither way is really any worse than the other, just something to consider.

also consider that it is a fact that at a lower impedence, a JL will back off on its output to avoid overheating. it will produce more power at 4 ohms than at 2.

According to carsound it output virtually identical power into both impedances. But technically, it did output more power into 2ohms. Not a difference worth mentioning...but more none-the-less
