amps for active setup (question on power ratings)

For a two way active setup would you guys run two separate amps, say a 50x2 for the tweeters and a 100x2 for the midbass or just do a 75x4 and adjusts the settings accordingly. I'm afraid to do the 4-channel for fear that I will be overpowering the tweeters and underpowering the midbass. Does this make any sense?

Doesn't make sense really because you have gain controls to limit the amount of power....

I'm running a 4150xxk to my tweets and mids in my active setup, 85wpc rms. no issues here... though my tweets can take 150 rms w/o issues.

I run a 4 channel that does 90x4, so the gain is way down on the tweets. You won't have any problems with a 4 channel amp and less wiring to run.

most of the DIY tweeters are 8 ohms anyways so you won't see the full wattage anyways

Except for the fact that they are usually twice as efficient and will still overpower the mids with "half" the power.

Get a 4 channel sized for the midbasses and adjust gains accordingly.
