I have magic ears too... I can hear differences in amps and speaker wire!!!

amps yes. speaker wire, only in an extreme case.

yeah, hearing amps is very possible. Granted if both amps measure the same they will sound the same as well, and many upper end amps are pretty close. But I'd wager even with just level matching gains most people could pick out a tube amp over a low class solid state, even without them being pushed too hard. Speaker wire, yeah only if something was VERY wrong with your original wire or contact points.

Of course, if I popped up right now and started comparing the Type R to the SX then the same thing would happen.

I'm curious about a particular amp. I hear lots about Arc, Zapco, Tru, Crown, USAmps, etc. How do these amps compare to say, Sinfoni? Is Sinfoni a lower end of the high end or is it on a completely different level?

Sinfoni is a bit more upper tiered. I would absolutely love to get my hands on a few Desiderios and with the recent price drop on em I may pursue it, but still mostly dreaming..

That is what I was thinking. The Desiderios look nice but about 4 Special Line Powerblocks would suit me well with 4 DD9917s. Or maybe 8 SI Mag D2s it I wanted more of an SQ setup. That would be ****ing SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!
