I like them too , but he listens LOUD , and to lots of complex rock. I'm not quite sure there is enough dynamics with Audison.

Go with Zeffs best design of amplifiers to date Arc Audio SE amps can't go wrong with it since your firend does like the Zapco C2K stuff.

He feels the sound is not quite " open " enough, and thinks there should be a little more sparkle ( can't perfectly say i disagree with this statement ) ..... that's his whole thing.

He cant possibly expect ideal staging cues and detail out of an amplifier thats not there in your speakers/tuning and your deck. The XXK's are bipolar designs, as mentioned above law of diminishing returns kicks in. It simply doesnt get much more linear .

Perhaps what he thinks is missing out of the amplifier, is because of your deck:uhoh: DRZ's are on the thick and uninviting side IMO- I've heard much better top ends.

And I would not venture to say the DLS Ultimates are 'better' than xxks. Not even close. But yes its an option for another great amplifier. Just have him realize he needs not have to spend for power at impedances he does NOT need.

you're kidding right? its a good deck with good onboard flexibility. is it the best sounding? no. its a good sounding deck but it does not shine in any particular area. i completely agree with 3.5max6spd, it has a laid back top end and thats exactly where all his air went. definitely question your signal before your amps on that... especially the excellent xxk line.

Also, as a former C2k user and a current Ultimate user I can say the C2K line offers more value due to it's customer support, flexiblity, and sonic capabilties. However, I do feel that the Ultimate series IMHO "sounds" better in my install with my equipment bla bla bla. And to contradict myself yet again, I will say that IMHO the Ulitmate line offers the best performance/price ratio of any amps that I've used.

At this point in time, if someone came up to me and gave me $3000 for a new system I'd go with Eclipse amps and spend the rest on processing galore, the best drivers for my intended stage (not the best brand names)deaden the shit out of my ride, and then take it to one of these tuning geniuses and give him what he needs to set it up accurately and correctly. Ughh sure.

Let's see ... in EVERY shootout test against ALL the other high end offerings it has been voted the best sounding unit available .... But that probably doesn't mean anything.

No Eclipse EVER made has sounded half as good , and i should know because I've owned ALL of the best Eclipse units. The Clarion is much better than my McIntosh units , and Alpines , and the Nak .....

OK , I have thought about it , and realized that NO ..... nothing compares to it. Next !!! LOL
