Amplifier power/ Sound question

I am have heard that it takes twice the amount of power to get another 3dB out of your system. My question is how would running 2 woofers at say...160 watts rms each, be differ from running 3 woofers at 100 rms each. I am considering running an extra woofer but want to know if it will have any audible differences since I would be running them at less wattage. Anyone with info please help.

The sound will be more full.

Lets say you have a V8 and a I4. The 4 cylinder can make as much power as a V8 if you up the RPM's but V8 can do it without breaking a sweat.

also running less wattage is easier on your alty.

like a I4 is on gas.
