amplifier mounting question??

i am "modifing my box and right now, it sits at 115lbs more weight to come, when all is said and done the box will be mounted in a very conveniant way for theft deterrant. will post pics once completed just not going to do a build log do to uncertanty of the out come, 1st box build for me. i think it will be pretty cool, at least in my head it will be.

^^^ lookin into cooling fans for the 2 channel

all MDF. Basically weight, size, bolts and along with the fact that in order to mount it and remove it( "it" being the box) the "box" as to be partially assembled and disassembled in the trunk. It sounds confusing but there will be pics that will explain everything upon completion

i don't think you would have to many problems. make sure it's screwed down tight. as long as there is some room to breath, you shouldn't need fans. unless you plan on pushing it hard. then you might not want it on the box then.

depending on what kind of amp, mounting it on the box will totally mess it up.

Such as a large class d Korean amp, that uses spring clips to hold the mosfets to the heatsink. The amps are so big, with a lot of parts on the pcb's, the pcb's get very flimsy and you do risk breaking of feet from the mosfets.

So things like the big spl dynamics, american bass, digital designs, cactus, adassa, atomic, just for examples.

^^ well right now i got a TMA 2 channel and on wensday i will be adding a Memphis audio mono block, think they run the risk of "vibration" damage

as far as heating goes not too concerned but will leave the option open to install cooling fans later down the raod if the amp starts to over heat.

oh and this is only a 500 RMS system if that matters, this ain't nothing big

No idea what TMA is, dont think Ive ever heard of it, and most likely not since your running a low powered system.

Memphis amps are also built some what different then korean class d amps and even if it was a high powered system you should have no problem with mounting memphis to the box, or kicker, and rockford for that matter.

the problem with the large class d amps is there is no pcb support. Most of the boards are heald into the case just by the spring clips that hold the mosfets, other then that theres no screws anywhere holding the pcb tight to the heatsink, and from vibration they sort of flab in the wind.

Oh, i knew jl bought some other company, but I didnt know what it was.

I personally dont pay much attention to JL audio.

But yea, in your case you should be fine, knowing that your not running some massive 3000+ watt korean built amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
