Amped Speakers Cutting Out - Troubleshooting

I have a 4 channel amp, with 2 channels running the components and the other two bridged for the sub. The stock rears run off the HU.

A couple days ago I lost signal to the comps and the sub -- just for a second or two. During this time the stock speakers remained on ( I actually did not even remember they were still hooked up until then).

Since then, it has happened a few more times, each time for just a second or two.

I know that on a couple of occassions it has corresponded with hitting a bump.

When the speakers cut out they do so completey. It seems like that each time the time they have stayed off has been consistent. The strange part (at least to me) is that it seems like when they come back on they regain power gradually.

I have visually checked the power connection on the battery terminal and leading into the amp. The connections themselves look fine. The amp power wire, however, seems brittle. (I was planning on upgarding the wire next week anyway).

I don't feel like the amp is going into protect because I really have not been pushing the system hard at all during any of the times this has occurred.

So, any ideas of what all this could be? What is the best way to go about troubleshooting?

Thanks.

Yes, the sub cuts out too. I have checked the RCA wires - at least at and around the amp. I have not pulled the HU yet.

i would say check the rca's at the HU, if your hitting a bump and it goes out your HU is more likely to move around and get something loose then something else. just make sure on your ground that the metal is bare, and secure all you connections to the amp and you should be golden

Thanks guys. I am going to upgrade that power wire - hopefully next week -- so I will check all other connections at that time.

Update: The amped speakers finally went out and stayed out. Which was a good thing, because I was finally able to figure out what the problem was.

Blown fuse. I thought it was odd how it went out. Also, it looked fine visually.

Thanks.
