Amp was jacked, need some help putting in the new one

I've got everything hooked up and no sparks flew and nothing blew up but my head unit wont come on. It hasn't been on since the theft so I figured that maybe the amp being gone cut power to the head unit or something like that.. but perhaps not since it doesn't work now.

So, now what? lol

Remote wire probably grounded and blew the fuse in the HU. Check that out. What type of radio is it? Most radios come with keys to make it easily removable depending on if its installed using a sleeve or not

When the amp was yanked, a lot of the wires broke too so I'm thinking there might not have been anything exposed to cause a short. If this is the case, what else could it be? And is there a way to test the amp?

Yes, it was under the carpet but the actual wire that was exposed was ripped out with the amp, so the wire broke off flush with where the it was stripped. Or it might have been clipped, either way I had to strip a new end on it and dont think there was anything exposed to cause a short.

Getting a good voltage reading does not mean good power transfer. You could read 13.8v out of a 24 AWG wire. Recheck your amplifier's ground and...
