thanks for any help

that's correct, though I would get a $10 distro block, run your main feed in, and 2 feeds out to the amps. You can also use a distro block to combine grounds from several amps into one ground point. It just helps clean everything up.

x2. distro blockalso...16ga. isn't big enough to power one amp safely, much less two. Use at least 4ga. from the battery.
its 8 gauge i believe

and when i originally set it up i couldnt get the distro block, will it make a difference or just be cleaner and more simple to work with

It will be safer because the risk of creating a short circuit us reduced.

Also make sure that the fuse by the battery is big enough to handle both amps.

In the picture the wire looks like it says 16ga., but I may be wrong.

im positive its 8g

i tried to hook it up without the distro box and i was getting nothing im really boggled why its not working... any suggestions or should i just take it in somewhere and have them look at it and get the distro box (im fairly new to systems so im still learning as i go)

should probably put what i have too

jensen mp3 deck

jbl speakers

alpine component amp

alpine sub amp 760 peak

2 ma audio 12 inch subs in a slot port box

ok so i put in the power distribution block wired everything up checked for power no problems

go to check it out, turn on my system and same problem as before. Im not getting anything from my subs. I tried switching the RCAs and same problem. I plugged the RCAs that run to the component amp into the sub amp and the subs would go. Im assuming something to do with the sub outs on the deck is screwed up. Any suggestions other than buying a new deck.

Also thanks for the advice on the power distribution block, it looks a lot cleaner and gave me room to move my amps to where i wanted them.

Grab up a dmm and check the voltage on the power, preouts (before and after rcas., and speaker outputs.

Im kinda confused, so does the amp turn on or anything... if you posted that sorry, im pretty tired as well. What the fok is that power wire? Is that ran the whole way? That shit is as small as your speaker wire it looks like.

x2 on checking the xover as well

sorry if I wasnt clear im fairly new to this stuff. The rca`s are good i swapped them (I have 2 sets one for component one for sub) and after i swapped them the component amp was still powering the speakers fine. Amp turns on and is getting power, I checked with the dmm everything in the backs getting power. The power wire is 8g but I will soon be going to 4g.
