cookies or death??
i was looking for an amp for my sub. i have an idq12.

i was looking at something cheap, sub 150 or around that price range. i was looking at the profile ap1000m that does 500 @ 2ohms. but i can get a kicker kx400.1 that has a 485 birthsheet for about 150. which of these should i get? or is there another option i have that i dont know about? thanks.

I wouldn't recommend neither of those amps for that IDQ12. I've had experience w/ IDQ12s and they do not need that much power what so ever. If you had 2 idq12s then that profile may fit. All you need to power that idq is 250w, 300 most. That's because ID makes their subs to be efficient.

you can buy my ID amps! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Power Output @ 2 Ohms: 240W x 2CH

Power Output @ 4 Ohms: 170W x 2CH

Power Output Bridged: 480W x 1CH

the other one slightly weaker, great for comps.

but i don't plan on selling them because they were the only two ever made //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

headroom is always good. i'd hit that kicker amp up for $150 and just watch the gains. can't go wrong with kicker amps.
yeah headroom is nice. If you have that amp.. there's room for another IDQ if the vc configs are right.

haha thanks james, but i dont think i would want your "id" amps even if they were for sale. ive already seen your thread. haha

so basically i should stick with an amp thats around 300 max?

Scroll down this page to the 400MSX refurb. 300w @ 2 Ohms, factory-direct with a valid warranty, $50 + shipping. Bingo. Done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

May not be as illustrious as that Kicker but it fits your request of cheap to a 'T' !

you know they're sexy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

haha they do look pretty awesome, it tricked me at first cuz i remember saying to myself..."he got free amps! f'in lucky" then i saw ng's post

how are profile amps? ive read a lot of good things about them through the forums, but i have yet read anything bad about them. i remember one of my old roommates back when i was in colelge had a profile baja amp....and it was pretty crappy.

one of my friends has a phoenix gold xs2300, how could profile amps compare to something like that? i think thats the only other system ive really heard. other than a crappy old audiovox that my gf's brother has

i was looking at an infinity amp (310a), hifonics (bx605)

would any of those be better than the profile?

once again, ill pass on the id amps haha

^^^ i would get the ID amps before profile.
You would seriously buy those Bear Mountain units before a Profile? Why is that?
oohh old school PG > Profile
as a matter of fact a lot of things > profile
Correct - that PG amp is a better unit than the Profile overall. Having said that Profile (the California-series) is a pretty solid choice when you're on a budget crunch. They do close to rated power and in my personal experience as well as that of many, many others they're reliable as a rock (again, when speaking of the California-series)

Yep - the Baja-series Profiles are pretty crappy. On the other hand, the California-series amps and the Clarus-series amps are pretty solidly built. I just don't like the cosmetics on the Clarus amps, personally.
The Kicker or the PG you mentioned would certainly be good amps for you - can't argue about that. But when looking at it from a purely financial point of view the 400MSX I suggested is your best out with perfectly suitable power for your particular need. But it is your money so certainly the final decision is up to you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yin wei,

di yi ti - zhe ge bear mountain amps chassis looks much better

di er ti - the board looks better than the profile, kinda like those "mid-level" korean boards if you know what im sayin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

profile is good, but only for the money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

As a matter of fact, I would personally choose my "ID" amps before the profile. build wise, I don't know which are better, for im not an amp gut specialist, but the specs of the amp are perfect for a 2 12" idq setup. If I could, I have 2 12" idqs on the larger amp, and ID comps ran off the smaller one. Then I would have an all-out ID setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif  also these BMA amps (i mean ID) do look well built.

well i wouldnt mind spending up to 150, but if the profile amp will sound just as good as, lets say, the hifonics amp, then of course ill go with the profile amp.

my friends who run the idq both used to run about 300rms to them, so i guess a 300 rms amp should be suffiencnt for me. i've read about the hifonics bx605 amp through the forums and it seems to be underrated. but i havent heard anything about the infinity amp.

but if those amps sound jsut as good as the profile, then ill order the profile right away.

i like your type of oranges.

My bro had two 12" idq on a bx605 and they sound pretty sweet and clean, even though he was running a hi-low converter. My choice would first be my ID amp:D , and second the bx605, also because they're class a/b unlike the others of that line. Also they run for about $100. My bro might be selling his, but im not sure. He can't choose between that or his soundstream 501.

ga ne ma! jp
