Amp/Sub wiring options

Most of us know how to wire subs to an amp, like 2 dual 4 ohm subs will make a 1 or 4 ohm load, or 2 dual 2's will make a .5 or 2 ohm load, But i gots a question...

is it possible to wire 2 dual 4's into 2 ohms??? Such as... you have a mono amp with 2 channels, you wire 1 sub into 2 ohm, and use channel 1, and wire 2nd sub into 2 ohm also and use channel 2, wouldnt that be a 2 ohm load on the amp??

or you have 2 dual 2 ohm subs and you wire them to 1 ohm. Same as above, you have a mono amp with 2 channels, you wire 1 sub into 1 ohm, and use channel 1. wire the second sub into 1 ohm and use channel 2. that would also be a 1 ohm load correct???

Dont come in here saying no you cant wire like that just cuz you've never heard about wiring like that.... Someone please explain why you cant/can wire like that and any dangers, if any to wiring like this. Thanks.

Mono Amplifier is Mono Amplifier. You are seeing 2 Positives and 2 negitives speaker terminals for a reason. And that only reason is so that you are not cramming a huge amount of wire into a single + or - input.

There is no such thing as a mono amplifier that is 2 channels. Those extra + and - terminals are to keep your install clean, The amplifier is still only 1

channel.

This ^ would be a 0.5 ohm load.

first of your first statement is incorrect a dual 4 ohm can only be wired to a 2ohms and 8ohms or if you have separate amps running to each voice coil then you would get 4 ohms. for a dual 2 vc you get either 1ohm or 4 ohms or 2ohm with two amps.

as for you question if you ran each sub at 2ohms then put it on an amp on two separate ch then the resistance would add up and equal 4ohms unless u have a big enough amp that each channel has its own board inside. the only way to make this work would be to run each vc in parallel to the amp.
