So i was drivin along with my subs bumpin and the the bass cut out, and i smelt smoke. so i pulled over and checked her out and it was smokin, not alot but i could smell it and see a little bit of smoke. i turned it off and drove home. so i turn on the power to the amp, the amp gets power, al lights light up but nothing comes through the subs. not sure what i should do im crying cause i dont have my subs. please helppppp.

Amp: Hifonics 1200 watt

Subs: 2 Kicker CVR 12's 4OHM ran & bridged to 2

Everything worked fine and flawlessly till it just cut outtt.

ive heard of hifonics amps doing this. correct me if im wrong but i dont think hifonics amps are internally fused, so its possible ur inline fuse was to high big you could have burnt up the amp. im not an expert but i have heard of scenarios very similar to this, and thats what happened

yeah, the smoke came from the amp, and i have it apart and i can smell it, everything looks fine internally, the smells commin from the coils of small red, green, and copper wire. ill post a pic in a minute

first of all you cant wire 2 dual 4ohm subs to 2 ohm
so that means you ran the amp at 1 ohm bridged, which it is not supposed to be ran at.

it was your fault the amp blew up.
silvercookie, this is offtopic and doesn't relate to this situation , but is it possible to wire 2 dual 4's into 2 ohms??? Such as... you have a mono amp with 2 channels, you wire 1 sub into 2 ohm, and use channel 1, and wire 2nd sub into 2 ohm also and use channel 2, wouldnt that be a 2 ohm load on the amp???

no, i dont believe you can do that.

Explain please.
from what i have heard the 2 positives and 2 negatives is for multiple wiring options.

but i dont think you can run 1 sub of one set of +,- and another sub off the other set.

i think it has something to do with internal bridging or somthing.

but i know for a fact that if you wire the 2 subs together you can only achieve a 1 or 4 ohm load.
