Amp Shuts Off at High Volume

My amp will play just fine at normal volumes, but when I turn it past 25 or more on the head unit it will play maybe for a bit depending on the bass on the song. If my bass hits hard then it will go into protect mode. I have checked everything to see if i have it wired right, and everything is a go. I've been on multiple sites and checked everything that is usually wrong with wiring. I have trouble shot it for a while and can"t seem to figure out what is wrong with my setup. I checked the rca's one at a time, and I took a grinder to the chassis and installed my ground with a 14 mm bolt. My gain is set to the head unit which is 2v. All the settings are set to the specs of my subs. I did one wire at a time too when trouble shooting. Checked if any wire was loose and they all appear pretty snug. All the diagnostics passed, but when the volume is up it still shut the amp off.

Here are my Specs:

Hifonics BXI 1606D Mono Class D amplifier

2 12"Coustic Crusher Single Voice Coil(225 watts RMS)

Tsunami 5 Farad Capacitor

Alpine CDA- 9883 Head Unit

Optima Red Top Battery

DB-Link 0 Gauge Wire

Scosche Double Braided 1600 watt RCA Cables

Scoshe 12 Gauge Speaker wire

Hopefully someone knows what's going on with my system, because i can"t figure it out and it's really getting annoying. Someone please HELP!!!

Well, I'll take a shot but it sounds like the amp is being overdriven at high volumes. Check this chart based on the max RMS wattage of your amp:

And then get a DMM, set it to AC and check the voltage at the speaker terminals with a 50 to 60 Hz test tone...then start cranking up the volume and checking the voltage output at each volume setting. I think you will note that as you get to higher volumes, you are overdriving the output of the amp.

NOTE: When running the test tone, make sure the subs are NOT connected to the speaker outs of the amp...place the DMM probes on the + and - speaker outs on the amp.

I'm not sure how you have the subs hooked up and I do have some questions like are the subs wired in parallel? What is the ohm rating on the subs?

I had the capacitor on there because I was running some MTX 8500's and my lights were dimming so I put that on there. Ive bought different things over time so I just keep the stuff I already have in the car. The volt gauge on the cap reads around 13.5 with no bass and it goes almost down to the 11's if it hits hard and the cap shows that it hits around 60 amps on deep bass

J31Rob Galveston is right outside Kokomo off of 31. Idk if the big 3 is going to make a difference in my case but when i get the money I'll prolly upgrade to 0 gauge. I'll get a volt meter and check my ratings on it. My subs are 4 ohms. i figured that is the safest for the amp. it said on the box though that its 1 ohm stable, but idk how accurate that is. I believe I have the subs wired in parallel. the terminals on the subs are just wired directly from one +- post to the +- in the amp

You can't run that setup on a stock alt. I guarantee if you play it at the max volume and read the voltage of the amp with a DMM it will be dipping into the 10's. I have the same amp and it goes straight to protect if it is in the 10's for more than a few seconds.

shit, you're like 30-45 minutes from me, if you wanna run to Frankfort I'll do everything I can to fix your issues.. even if you're wanting another battery, I can help you there too.

or I could just give you my phone number & walk you through the issue..
