Amp repair?

I send DB-r a message, But no reply.

Basically my orion 4002 was wired to 2 ohm's per channel to a pair of memphis 12's. At low to no volume, The amp would pop, and screech, but sounded fine at vol 2+ on the alpine. Gain was set with DMM, Bass Q was down, And all previous amps in the same set-up were fine, Just couldnt handle the 1 ohm load it woulda been bridged, so i only had the other amps on one sub at 2 ohm's.

Next thing i know, Screetch, Pop, And my subs stop working. Amp dont go into protect, Powers up fine, Just dont put out any sound.

Anyone know if it would be a cheap fix, or worth it? I would love to fix it, but at the same time if it costs too much, Id be money ahead buying an 8004, or something.

Anyone know of someone reputable that would fix it?

i got a couple amps i need fixed too. I'm and i'm wondering where i can get it done quick right and for a good price. if that's possible. there seems to be quite a few people who can repair an amp on here. try ampjunkielikeme. every time i see a thread like this that's usually the second option people say after dbr.

Does it sound like itd be worth fixing? It still powers fine, Making me thing its something in the output side of the board, But i know nothing about electronics repair.

Im gonna try to get pics of the board up soon.

I don't have to have pics, just send it my way. It's worth getting fixed and the repair should be under $100 with return shipping.

Been busy with school and all. Now it's not too bad and I can start taking amps.

Did you send it somewhere?

Thread jack alert!!!

Hey Grinder, What do you think it would cost to fix a concept 2400a that powers up and barely puts out a tiny bit of power?

It seems some idiot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gif Ran the subs on it at a short circuit instead of the 1 ohm he was shooting for from a noob wiring error.

I'd have to have it here to check it out. Shouldn't be too bad though.

Don't sweat it. He does good work and I'm not trying to compete with anyone on this board or anyone in general. I'm just doing amps for people on the boards as cheap as I can.
i will have to agree with you there! lol....but its cool as long as i get it fixed im //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well then not too worry. I just do this as side work, I really don't profit on it and there are better shops out there and more experienced techs than me or ampjunkie. The best place I've dealt with is Amp Repair Center. Scott is an absolute genius with amps and his quality of work is top notch.
