I need an amp for a 12" rl-p. These are the amps im considering. Would it make sense to have the 1100 watts of the JBL with the gains lower? Or am I better off getting the kenwood or hifonics? I dont care about looks, or what they cost, just what would perform better.

Kenwood x812d (919@2 ohms)

JBL GTO 1200.1 (1114@2 ohms)

Hifonics Brutus 1206d (900@2 ohms)

If anyone has owned any of these I would appreciate a summary of your experience with it.

That is almost a bit much..

I would do it tho, if the gains are low..

It's not like your amp is going to run 1000+ watts all the time..

all of them will reach the RL-p's "full excursion" zone, its up to you if you wanna put in the extra power on those days that you feel a lil' crazy =)

also im selling an ARC KAR 900.1 in the classifieds that does 750x1@2ohms if you're interested

JBL.
Will be the only one to give you the actual rated power.
The kenwood is cea-2006 compliant, I thought that means it will give at least very close to the rated power under the specified conditions.

And why are so many people saying the '06 hifonics lines do rated power?

that all depends are you doing ported with it or sealed? in a nice sealed enclosure it will love 1000 watts rms and ported anywhere from 600 to 750 anymore is useless....

Ported. I was aiming a bit overkill on purpose though. Im hoping to keep the amp hidden, which means it probably wont get great airflow, so keeping the gains low would help keep the amp cooler right? I thought about getting 700-800 watts but I doubt it will save me much money anyway.

jbl 1200

followed closely by the hifonics

and lastly the kenwood

just for the record i don't have 'hands-on' experience with all 3 of these exact model amps but i know what i would prefer just from personal experience
