Amp Protection Mode

My amp keeps going into protection mode when I try to push my subwoofers. I wouldn't consider it pushing them hard either, I used to push them harder but lately, when I try to push my subwoofers my amp stops giving them power and won't give them power again till I turn my car off (shut the amp completely off).

I've been trying to figure out the problem (the grounds secured along with all the other cables) and when I tried to play with it to figure out the problem, I noticed that when my subs are pushed too hard they completely missfire and bump all out of wack.

Is there a voltage problem? is there a problem with my amp? or is it my subwoofers?

I also noticed some slight burn marks by the power cable.

there wired to 2 ohms and my amp claims to be 1 ohm stable. My gains are a little high but they used to be higher with no problems.

my speaker wire is 16 awg and my amps rated at 900w rms, I know I should upgrade my speaker wire, but it's not causing any problems is it?

Set your gains properly

Problems? Yes. This problem? Doubtful

alright, the input sensitivity is supposed to be set to match the output of my deck (according to the manual) which is 4v

the bass boost can't be "set correctly" can it? isn't that one just a matter of preferance?

and the lpf (low pass frequency) is also just preferance right? (obviously too far about 100 it's going to sound like crap)

(p.s. what kind of problems is the speaker wire creating, other than a little voltage loss)

lol, i've heard people say this, but why have it if it's turned all the way down?
Honestly it's a feature that I think needs to be eliminated, it provides no benefit. The only thing it's going to do is boost certain frequencies and distort what the music is supposed to sound like. Set it to 0 and set your gains properly with a DMM.

Don't have a dmm, or any useful tools really, any package or something you suggest I purchase?

and I get what your saying, makes a lot of sense.

There. bass boost on 0 and just because your HU says 4v doesnt mean thats what it put out.. mine only puts out 3.4 on max volume.. get an oscope and set your gains,... bass boost on 0.. shouldnt hav any problems.. watch yyour voltage too.. from what it sounds likeits not a alrge amop so i doubt its a problem but check voltage.. and take a DMM and make aure you really are wired at 2 and not .5 or something

i got an oscope for 90 shipped.. 10 times faster and most accurate way of checking gains.. so easy a caveman can do it!

You really just need a DMM, it's a very useful tool, costs between $5 and well several hundreds of dollars but the $5 ones will work fine for you.

Yes because when he said he had no tools he neglected to mention the oscilloscope in his garage.

go ahead and fgive him the formula to calculate gain with a dMM.. then tell him you put the neg in the neg hole and pos in the pos hole and watch the screen with a scope.. you are an idiot or broke to be serious about car audio and not own a scope.. its like being a box builder and not owning a router.. you need it.. dont have to have it.. but you need it

While I appreciate your insults I disagree with your opinion.
