amp problems

i installed my amo today but it is acting very strange. it will not turn on no matter what i do to it. it says it is not getting power and will not turn on. i check all the connections and ground multliple times and then i decided i needed to go buy a volt meter to test it. once i get there i get the urge to look back at the amp. and walla its running. i hurridly race home to hook it up and it sounds good. i shut the jeep off and go get something and i come back and it wont turn on again. it has done this a couple times and its pissing me off. what is the problem? is my amp haunted and just trying to piss me off?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

has to be a bad connection somwhere, check your remote wire on your HU and amop, and then trace the wires back

ok just to let you guys know im a super noob when it comes to amps and subs. and i dont know any of the lingo so you will have to be super specific

well for the rem wire i used a tap splice instead of sodering it. could that be the problem cause all the connections are good otherwise

alright well now it only turns on when the radio is on. it doesnt get power when im playing cds but it does when the radio is on. what does that mean?

That means you have the remote turn-on input connected to the power antenna lead on the back of your headunit rather than the remote accessory activation output.

Look at the back of your headunit. There should be two blue wires coming out of the harness. One plain blue (which I'll wager is what is connected to the amp currently) and a blue wire with a white stripe alongside the insulation.

You need to take it off of the plain blue one and attach it to the blue with the white stripe one.

That should cure your problem (which is an exceedingly common one...)

i tried the blue with white stripe but it didnt work either. now it doesnt even turn on with the radio. oh and do i plug the rca cables in the audio out front or audio out rear?
