Amp problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have an HK4000D MAaudio amplifier. i hooked it up and... no sound...it turns on like normal, but no sound comes out of the sub... when i try to cross the speaker wires it doesnt short out... do i have a defective amp? is there no sound going to the amp mabe so hence nothing going to sub? is there an option on my kenwood KDC-MP232 headunit to turn on the sound going to the amp? thanks

Check the settings on your deck.........also see what voltage youre getting on the power and remote wires.

i'm at about 11.8-12 right now cause i haven't put on my 250 amp alternator

That thing is going to kick your electricals *** even with a 250 amp alt. But you should still get sound with 12 volts from it so I don't understand what is wrong you better hope it is a wiring issue.
