I recently got a new car, took the amp out of my old car and paired it with 2 new subs and a new wiring kit. I never had any problems with the amp in my old car. After I finished installing everything and tested it out, everything worked fine, I touched the RCA cable coming from the preamp out in the head unit and it was so hot that the rubber felt like it was melting. Is this normal? What puzzled me about this was that the car was not on. So I went to start the car and my battery was dead. I'm gathering that it has something to do with the remote power wire coming from the head unit. I was also wondering if there was a way to wire in the remote power wire differently. Whoever put my stereo in did some really screwy stuff with the wiring, it was a professional job and all seems to be working. I just didn't know if there was another way of wiring in the remoteon/off wire so I don't drain my battery. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions of other things it might be that would be great.
