Amp problem and can't figure it out

I bought a hifonics bx1905d to power my 12'' idmax. Had it hooked up for like 3 weeks and everything worked perfectly. I put on a bass song and about half way through the song, the amp went into protect. Now, I turned down the bass eq to a little bit less than half. The amp is only at 2ohms. I checked everything, re-ground the ground to make sure the connection is good. I just installed a old rocksford 45.2 to power the fronts, that has been working fine today. Also checked the voltage from the power and ground, it dropped to about 12.6 when it hit, but that is as low as it has gotten. Seems like it always goes into protect only when I turn up the volume close to almost max.

might be clipping it. my hifonics had that problem too. i had the 1206. they are very picky with the gains.

How could it be clipping if it was absolutely fine for 3 weeks with the gain turned almost all the way up. Now that its below half, it should definitely be fine. I don't get it.
