I have a pdx1000 hooked up to a 12" X. Anytime I run it hard it gets like really hot, even burns the little styrofoam mat where it sits. Just wondering what could be wrong and what I can do to fix the problem? Also when my lights are on and it hits hard it almost cuts my lights out, wondering whats the cheapest way to fix this problem? Also how do u tune the amp can't find anyway to do it on the amp?

Your voltage is running low you need better electrical if its running hot and your lights are cutting out, sounds like severe voltage drop. Could be a bad ground tho, friend of mine fixed his dimming with a better ground but he didnt have the problems as bad as u are saying. Are you using good quality 4g or 0g? Also what kinda battery/alt? Guessing complete stock. I ran a bX1500D at 2 ohms (1k watts) on 0g and stock battery/alt and it didnt get hot, voltage never went below 12. (used cap for volt meter if that matters)

I have 2 type x and 2 pdx 1000.1 and mine never got hot. You should run 0ga to from front to back in a fused distro block. then from there you can run 0/4g power wire to the amp. also, make sure where ever you got ground from that you scraped ALL the paint off the surface where you are getting ground from. also, make sure the wires on the amp's end are not touching (like any strands hanging out.

What is the impedance load going to the amp?

how can you not change a setting on the amp? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

there are no knobs, buttons or dials?

the pdx is all digital it doesnt have and knobs on it
wtf ru serious? i really hope you are kidding lesher.

OP, did you steal this amp or something? lol did you look at the manual? the front of the amp where is says alpine, pdx 1.1000 etc.. there is a little screw on the left side. take proper size allen key, remove screw and voila, theres your gain, bass boost, etc.

before you do some serious damage to something read up on setting gains properly, proper wiring, subwoofer impedence (2ohm, 4ohm)etc. seems like you got alot to learn and a few more problems than just this amp getting hot.

not to mention the pdx is very efficient amp and under no circumstances should even get remotely warm. ran mine for 6 hours straight on a road trip and it wasnt even warm.
