amp or subs?

got a problem, i had a 500 watt sony amp hooked up to a 10w6v2 in the SPEC sealed box, and it sounded AIGHT but quiet and got distorted in complicated bass lines, so i took out the POS sony and strapped a 1000/1

with the extra power i notice that the responce is VERY uneven and peaky particularly in the 35-45 range...

in that range the cone becomes unstable...

it's like once the sub hits a certain volume at those frequencies, it spazzes out...

i'm wondering if it's just over excurting because it's in a small box and i should add polyfill?

another factor might be that i haven't upgraded the wiring yet from the sony, so all thats powering it is a crappy 8g kit...

i'mm confused... i've never had this problem before:confused:

Optimum is like what??????? NOT 1000rms or more

with that amp, ur way past the danger zone

Thermal Power Handling (Pt): 400W

i would do at the absolute bare minimum 4awg wire. you're not only going to blow your sub but ur amp too on 8ga with that much power

but anyways, like theyve said, you;re way overpowering a SQ sub. should got a 500/1 bro and spent the rest on electrical upgrades

oh and you made my sig //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no no sry guess i didn't explain good enough... i had the 1000/1 just laying around so i hoked it up and set the gains so that its putting out about 600... and i know it can take that much cause i've had one taking every bit of a 750 in my freinds car...

i know the wire is a problem

and i'm pretty sure there is a box problem because the problem responce area is peaky... i just don't know what the problem is...

a theory i had is that at that amount of power the pressre inside the box is too high at such lowfrequency/high excursion levels... if i had polyfill or enlarge the box... some of that pressure would go away...

Are there any angled braces in the box to help break up the backwave?
nope...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif and the box is a perfect rectangular prizm, with the sub centered... i didn't think the backwave could effect the sub TOO terribly much though...

all i have is a rat shack db meter ,but i will test it to see exactly where the peaks are
