not looking for any brand suggestions. just what gauge power wire to use and fuse size?

gonna be hooking up a PPI900.4 and an alpine MRP-M500.

ppi uses a 35 and a 40 amp fuse.

alpine uses two 30 amp fuses.

for ease of installation i dont wanna use wire thats way bigger than needed.

thanks

You should be fine with 4ga OFC from Knukonceptz, but you'll have to get a separate 150a fuse. Just added all the fusing together and you're a hair under that. I would honestly recommend 0ga, but if you're worried about size, guess that's not the route you want to take.

Consider doing 0ga from the battery to a distribution block, then 4ga out to each amp. It lets you have a little more wiggle room on the wire's capacity and, if you upgrade in the future, won't have to re-run your power wire.

If you're not planning on upgrading, go with 4ga OFC. If you plan on upgrading, go ahead and get 0ga and use a distribution block like stated earlier. KnuKonceptz and AudioTechnix both have good prices.

thanks...i dont plan on up grading from what im installing now..components in kicks, 2 8"subs and 2 amps is about all i have room for in my standard cab pickup.

was planning a run from battery to a fused distro block. 4ga from distro to amps...whats the minimum recomended awg for the main run?.

0ga to the distro. 4 from there should be fine. Stop focusing on the minimum and just do it right the first time. Shouldn't cheap out on wire

yeah i know. lol..just not looking forward to trying to hide a 0ga wire in my truck.

just did a run of 0ga in my sons explorer and it was less than fun. after we finally found a hole in the firewall big enough we found that it wouldnt fit under the doorsill where a 4ga was previously ran. so we had to remove the console and run it under there.

I dont remember one recently. The kit is a fair enough price for what it comes with IMO

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...
