Amp keeps cutting out

14 awg won't cause a fire... but it will cause voltage drop and a current clip mode....

LOL @ 14 awg power wire.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif
Yes it could. You're trying to pass way too much amperage through a small wire. It could over heat, melt, ground, cause sparking, and then catch something on fire. All in that order //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well, it looks like the subs are just a single voice coil, do you have them now? or did you just order them? tell me if theres only 1 pair of terminals to plug the speaker in or if there is 2 pairs.
i didnt see what you wrote about using 14g wire as your power wire, im sure that was your problem right there. wait until you get a 4g wiring kit, that 14g wire is very prone to fire if you use it for your amp. and make sure you fuse all your + wiring connects to avoid fire incase a short happens. and another thing, always disconnect your battery when screwing with any electrical wires, you could seriously damage some shit if you dont know what your doing

no problem man, ill be happy to help you out anyway i can
Whoa sH**.

Boom. I got an 8 gauge wire kit from Audiopipe. it can handle up to 1500 watts, so im on the safe side there. I do have all of my wires fused. (well the + ones.)

but the wierd thing is/ is that nothing tripped. also, there is just one terminal for the hook ups.

thanks again boom

ill keep you posted.

Your pushing the upper limits of the 8g with this amp. 4g would have been better. You can't ever trust what wattage a manufacturer says their kit can handle. What's the fuse size that comes with the kit you picked?

the kit came with a 60 amp fuse. should that be fine?

thank you

It actually will. I looked closer at your amp from Boom's post. You stated the amp was 800 Watts. That's the max wattage, which you don't go by. The max RMS your amp does is 480, so an 8g would be fine.

the 8 g wire will be fine for it.

fusing is only on power wires, so you're good there.

what do you mean by nothing tripped? your amp stopped cutting out? and 1 terminal on your battery or amp?

Okay. Im surprised it didn't blow a fuse or anything. but i really wasnt listening to it for a long time. maybe like 5 minutes or so.

You asked how many terminals there were on my box. There is only one terminal on the box. or maybe i misunderstood you?
