I have a alpine type x 1000w rms with DVC and set up for 4 ohms of resistance. my first question is what amp would work well on this sub i obviously want to get the most power out of my system and with the reasearch i have done i concluded that i would want to go with a 1 ohm load is this possible to do and what amp should i get that would provide this i would want a budget option between 2-300$ and a no expense spared option 300+ $$.

I like those amps. Are they pretty reliable with a 1 ohm load? I was looking at a db Drive A31000.1D. It is really reasonably priced and seems like exactly what I need for my set up.

so it is a dual 2ohm ? you said dvc set up for 4ohm load so dual 2 , wired up to 4 ohm or is it a dual 4?

you will not be able to get a 1 ohm final load if it is a dual 4 if it is a dual 2 then disregard previous statement .

look into a JL audio HD750.1 gives power from 1-4ohm and and will be one of the best amps you will ever run ($300+ option)

The speakers are 4 ohms impedance. Your saying it's not possible to run it on a 1 ohm stable amp even if I wire them parallel because I was told it was possible. But then again it could be false information that's why I'm here.

you still haven't clearly answered the question at hand - is it a dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm. those are your two options. then you use the term "speaker" but in plural. so do you have one or two? what is the model number printed on the sub(s)?

a Powerbass ASA-1500.1dx would fit the bill as a 1 ohm stable amp in your price range.

Sorry I was tired last night, the SPEAKER is 4ohms. It is dual voice coil which to my knowledge allows for multiple wiring options. Is there any way to hook that speaker up to an amp that has these specifications 1000 x 1 @ 1 ohm. Or should I find an amp that is able to push 1000w at a higher impedance?

EDIT: also whe would I find the model number on the speaker? And to be clear I have a SINGLE Alpine type x 12"

Ok thanks to above posters. But will 1100 watt amp be fine for my sub? I just have to make sure it is only outputting 1000w right? Incase you have not figured it out this is my first car audio build, the only reason I wanted to do it myself is because best buy wanted an arm and a leg for installation so I politely said **** you. Also while I am here any suggestion for wiring sizes?

It will be just fine for you, and will also give you the Headroom(extra power) for upgrading to a set of woofers/2/3/4 in the future.Just remember to start with the gain down low, and you will be just fine.

You can get a 4ga wiring kit on ebay that will have rcas, remote wire and fuse/ fuse holder, all in one package deal.I do recommend getting the ANL fuse holder though, within the kit.You can add a distribution block later on as well for multiple amps/2-one for your subs, and one for your mids and highs.I would even look into possibly a 2ga wiring kit/0ga.Just for that amp, and a 100x4 amp for your mids and highs, the 4ga kit will be bare minimum Id get.A 125 amp ANL fuse will be plenty as well, from my experiencing.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
