amp going into protect

I have a hifonics 1500d running at two ohms. I have had it for about two months but the last week the amp has been going into protect. i thought it was was overheating but when i touched it it was not hot. Does anyone know why it would go into protect if it is not overheating?

Check all your wiring.

sub,power,ground.

It could be a short or your just clipping it

Are you 100% sure you have it going into a 2ohm load?? Have you double checked your wiring?? And where is your gain and bass boost set?

Well i went out and checked the wiring everything is good and it is wired to two ohms. Now when i went to use it today instead of working for a little while then going into protect it went straight to protect and made a popping noise. The base boost is off and i dont really know about gains. Is there wanyway to get it to work again?

A friend of mine (The other audiophile I always talk about) had a Viper 400.2 amp doing that constantly. The problem was 1) He had it attached to the box and vibrated the hell out of it. And 2) only had 10 guage wire running to it.

SO, I ask two things. Where do have the amp mounted, and how big is the power and ground wires attached to it?

In the meantime, drop the gains, 50% at least until you fix the problem. Look for a dial or a knob on the amp labelled GAIN.

The power and ground wires are 4 gauge and the amp is mounted on the box. I turned the gains and the bassboost all the way down and the amp is still in protect. I took the subs out of the box and checked the wiring and realized that when i wired it i was looking at the wrong version of the sub so it was not in two ohms. I set it up so it was in two and it still does not work.

Now that you have the problem solved, look in the manual and see if there is something that needs to be done to "reset" the amp. If not, then you may have screwed up the amp by running it below it's rated impedence for so long.

Well, its not the amp, its the fact someone didnt know how to wire properly.
