Amp going into protect mode need help

well then...
Here's the situation... 97 Camry,Hifonics BXi 2006d, 2 gauge power, stock alternator(I think 80 or 90amps), 2 JL 10w3's wired 1ohm. I know it's too much power for these subs, but they are temporary. Anyway... I had TTB design me a ported enclosure. Its tuned to 22hz (sounds great by the way, unreal output for these subs). I try to turn it up a little louder, then a little more... expecting to blow the subs or smell voicecoils burning, when instead the amp goes into protect mode. Otherwise it plays great. Think it could be the alternator not producing enough current? I have checked the voltage under load and it doesn't drop much under 13 volts. Think an extra battery will solve it or think something else could be wrong? Thanks.

Well if your running that setup at 22hz, keep in mind 22hz is really really low. Most people i know (including myself) fun subs from 32-60hz depending on what equipment and sound youre looking for.

What im trying to say is, 1000w rms to 60hz is loud

1000rms to 22hz is not anywhere near as loud.

Your amp might be going into protect simply because its becoming hot and tired from putting out its max rms and cuts itself off.

It gets very loud...And goes low... Pete did some pretty good magic with the design. As far as it overheating it doesn't get warm at all, the subs are rated at 300rms so the amp should have no problem with pushing them til they fly apart. I'm just thinking there is not enough amperage there to accomodate the amp, maybe?

are you sure the subs are wired correctly?

check with a DMM. it should be a bit under 1 ohm DCR.

if they're not wired right the amp might be able to take it at low volumes, and cuts out when you turn it up.

I haven't used a dmm yet but they are dual 4's wired parallel.
yeah, i'd double check the wiring.

i have two d4 subs wired to 1 ohm, and i wired them incorrectly once.

one of them worked and the other was just a short.

the amp would play the one sub at low volumes, but when i turned it up it would go into protect.
