amp getting hot

yea, but that octane amp is 150rms, not max...250max
sorry i miss read the post. Yea that octane amp would work fine briged. Ide still say get the xenon 100.2 though, but it would work. My x200.2s birthsheet says 480 watts. So you will be getting more than the listed power. One thing i like about the xenon is it will never over heat. Most amps will shut off, but the xenon will decrease its output to 2 dbs, and will continue to play as it cools off, and its not noticable by the ear. Im not saying that the octane is going to over heat, cause it shouldnt, but the xenon has some better features, and not to mention it sounds way better. I know some people say that amps dont have sq, but Ide have to disagree. well anyways good luck

Your problem is most likely NOT the amplifier.

If you had the gains on the amp up to high then after a while the speakers could blow.

Now, if the speakers are blown then chances are the resistance on them is no longer the normal 3.5-4.0 ohms but could be up extremely high. If the amp is trying to push that much current through say an abnormal 16 ohm load (from a blown speaker) then it's going to heat up because it's working a hell of a lot harder. The amp is going into protect mode because it is getting so hot from this resistance.

Replace the speakers. It doesn't matter what the power handling on the speakers is, if you're gains are up to high and you're sending a clipped signal to the speakers, they will blow eventually.

I doubt his speakers are about to blow. I had this same problem with my mtx 564 amp. When I briged it to 4 ohms to power my xenons it would over heat, which made me think that the xenons are closer to 3 ohms rather than 4. Gains set properly ofcourse. I then put my xenon amp to them, and have never had any problems.
