amp getting hot to the touch....problem?

i was hoping someone could tell me what to listen for....i mean, what freq range should i be listening for? is it a low pitched clip or high? fast paced or slow?...etc

Its a type of distortion.. so just listen for anything that shouldnt be there.

EDIT: it can happen at any frequency, but IMO its most noticable in the bass frequencies. Like when a strong kickdrum occurs, instead of that strong opening hit, it will sound kind of like a quick "popping" noise at the peak of the hit. At other frequencies, it just kind of sounds like scratchyness, like you're poorly tuned into a distant radio station.

it sounds like a baseball card in a bike wheel like the old days. or when you hold out your hand steady and take the air hose from the compressor and go up and down real fast onto your hand.. so it makes a weird noise.

that's some of the approximate noise clipping can make sometimes. If you hear that, TURN YOUR SHIT OFF.

it is foolproof then? this tutorial makes it to where u wont burn up your amp no matter if u crank the HU volume?
