amp getting hot, going into protect mode..

I have a Massive n4 nanoblock 2000w amp. Gets pretty hot. I accidently put it into thermal protection once. Now I might have a problem with the scorche rcas because I was messing with the wire and it would quit playing if I moved em. Would that cause anything? Also I did the big 3 upgrade with 2ga. My STOCK alternator might be going out cause it only charges at 13.78. When the amp starts beating BOTH batterys don't drop below 12. The back one gets close, right around 12.03. The front stays around 12.6. I'm using 4ga to run to the back battery also. It's a 70ah battery in the back. Megatron 2 in the front.

Charging voltage has to do with your regulator, not necessarily an indication of health of batteries or alternator.

What impedence are you running the amp? How much space/ventilation does it have where it is mounted?

It shouldn't be regulated at 13.7 my moms stang runs at 14.4 everyday all day. And its pretty enclosed.. Should I mount it somewhere different in the open? It's at 1 ohm. Well .8 and the amp is 1 ohm stable.

Different model? I promise besides a burnt diode in your alternator (which would charge very low) voltage alternator puts out is regulated by the regulator, may be worth having it tested though, but your alt should put out whatever it is asked regardles of health of batteries.

.8 ohms is a low load. I would imagine any of those space saver amps will tend to run hotter than similar output amp with larger heatsink. Mounting the amp where it has more space around it to radiate heat may help a bit.

your charging under 14.4 because you run two battery's and don't have enough amperage coming from your alt to achieve full voltage, try unhooking the battery and test when the alt is cold you will most likely see 14.4, if not you will know there's a problem.

I put the 2 nd battery in to compensate for the 13 volts but what if i put 2 fans in the amp? An ill try using a buddies alt
well anytime you run a amp at it's lowest ohm load it's going to get hot, try building an amp case using the two fans to draw the hot air out and cool air in that way you get even cooling you could even make it fancy and use a plexi front and a couple lights

The alt thats on the car was under water lol
what the h3ll do you mean under water?

The altenator on the car was submerged under water.. My buddy got drunk and threw it in his pool when we was doing the intake manifold gaskets.. lol. Could that have something to do with it charging at 13.7?
