Amp for two 12" Type R's?

Been researching stereo options for my truck....but may be getting a new vehicle. The truck woulda fit two 10's barely, but I'll have a hatchback mustang that'll have room for two 12's to play //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

So the Type R's look hard to beat for the price ($115 shipped from Ike Sound). I'm looking for subs with both decent SPL and SQ and these seem to fit the bill. They are rated at 300w rms I believe. For some reason Ike only lists the dual 4 ohm subs, so I guess I'd have to run a 2 ohm load if they don't carry the dual 2 ohm R's (I emialde them asking them if they carride the dual 2 ohm R's and got no reply).

A good option I saw was a JBL 600.1 for $210 from Ike Sound. It's 600x1 at 2 ohm and I guess would be 300x2 for two 12's at 2 ohm.

Doh, didn't do my math right. I was thinking each sub would be at 2 ohm so the amp would be run at 2 ohm.Didn't think about wiring them into only 1 channel :tard:

Well if I get the 1200.1 JBL, it'll make 600x1 @ 4 ohms. But it'll do 1200x1 @ 2 ohm, so it seems like I'd be waisting that amp at only 4 ohm. Coustic has a 600x1 into 4 ohm that would do good I guess.

Don't go off buying the JBL.....

Go find some dual 2ohm type R's and get this:

Take the Hifonics samsung into consideration....

It's rated at 225x 2 @ 2ohms but this amp is underated....a lot...... So you'll probably be giving the subs more like around 300W's each.

And its only $275 and has better crossovers and filters than the JBL.

Its just a better amp... Those are mosters..the GEN XI series.

You could probably get away running the two 4ohm dvc subs... but I would strongly suggest calling them up and seeing if they can get you the type r in 2ohm DVC.

You wouldn'y be disappointed with that amp...and its a steal for that $$$.

I just wonder how the 12" R's would do with 400-450w per sub. I believe I've read they are underated and people have succesfully run them with more power.....and if so, I may wanna hunt for a larger amp.....

Grab urself a JBL 600.1 theres nothing wrong with that. ive heard a setup in truck with 2 10's TYpe R's with a jbl 600 and it sounded awesome. i have a 1200.1 myself and its a great amp. great price too.
