i have a power acoustik sl-5500d amp and i wondering if it was too much power for a mtx thunder 9512-44,the sub is rated at 1000 wrms at 4ohms and the amp is rated a 2100 wrms at 4 ohms but ive heard the amp is overrated on its power,or if it is too much power can i just tune my amp to run an efficent amount of watts to my sub

Yea As Long As The Gains Arent Turned Up Where You Get The Full Wattage, You'll Be Fine. But Dont Under Estimate The Power Of The Power-acoustik Amp Either Tho. They Are Close To True Wattage.

im not underestimating the power of the power acoustik amp,i was just told in another forum that they were overrated and i pointed that out to see if they actually were or didnt have his facts staight

I'm not familiar with that amp but it may be peak power. Even if it isn't, keeping the gain low and not cranking the volume beyond what the sub can handle should keep the sub alive. The possible source of danger is you more than the amp.
