Amp for 4 re8's?

Hey,i asked the guy and hes said he is 100% sure they are 4ohm.He said he had them wired in one chain of wire in series/parallel and that the amp had a 4 ohm draw.So if i were to wire them like he did i would need a 4 ohm amp correct? So i shouldnt get the hifonics i posted? Im kinda confused, and just want to get it setup right.Trav

You should parallel them all. All the positives together then to the amp, all the negatives together then to the amp.
This will yield a 1ohm load. Look into something 600-1000rms @1ohm.

or you could wire them to the load the guy had them at and use a 2 channel amplifier bridged... Having a 1ohm option and 4ohm option is always nice for finding amps.

Depending on the power he chooses to use...

Lower power (600rms or less), I might consider a 2channel bridged.

Higher power (near 1000rms), I'd definitely rather consider a 1ohm stable monoblock amplifier.

More than likely the monoblock will be less expensive as well in some or most cases.

Read it over and couldn't find a price range...

But if I were looking for an amp for those subs I would probably look at the following

Memphis M-Class 1000D (1100w @ 1ohm)

Sundown SAX1000.1 (1000w @ 1 ohm highly overated apparently)

Alpine PDX-1.600 (600w @ 2 or 4 ohm)

Alpine PDX-1.1000 (1000w @ 2 or 4 ohm)

I have seen good deals for all the above amps from time to time... I personally own the Memphis 1000D and love it (it's so small!)

Well i found an amp that i will be using it is a power acoustik 1200watt sterling series (rare amp). It is capable of a 2 ohm load as state don the the amp.So how should wire this stuff altogether? Trav

The amp is a 2 channel.I check the specs and they say it puts out 250x2 at 4ohms and 300x2 at 2ohms.I used this to power my two kappa perfects for four years with awesome results. So will it work for my new re's?Not wired to 1 ohm obviously.Trav
