Amp cutting in and out

just installed a cheap amp and it cuts in and out, i know its not in the install cuz i put in another amp in its place and it works fine. But it keepes going from green to red (protect) i cant figure out why though. any help would be appreciated

i know its a cheap amp i dont know why the kid bought it but im just tryin to help him out so if someone can help me, you think its broken? should i return it

What load (ohms) are you using?

Could it be that the other amp is capable of running a lower ohm load than the one cutting in and out?

Im asking because it sounds like its protection circuits are being triggered.

actually when the volume is very low the amp runs fine but as soon as you turn it up just a little or turn up the gains it will start to go into protection and the back into green for about half a second.

yeah disconnect the speakers, and then it should work fine
