Amp advice please

Hello I need some advice on amp choices. I have a 97 dodge ram ext cab with a sealed 15 sub pointing at the floor. It rests on the factory center seat/console brackets 4 inches from the floor and fits perfectly inside the 4 seat brackets. I had a old rockford punch dvc driven by a alpine mrp-m500 500 rms 2 ohm. I blew the sub because I had the gain cranked and I think the distortion killed it on a 10 degree morning. I want to replace the sub with a type r or a maybe a re audio equivilent but im undecided on which amp to get. My last setup had a amp thats rms equalled that of the sub and I kept cranking the gain trying to get the most out of it. I now want to get a amp thats rms is more than the rms of the sub. I keep reading that a good quality sub can handle way above its rated rms as long as it has a clean unclipped signal. I want to be able to drive the sub to its max with clean unclipped power. I want to get a used kicker zx/kx 1000/1200.1 to drive a type r but could probably cheaper/easier get a alpine 1000 watt rms amp. I also read about some of the cheaper budget brands being higher watts/equal rms power for the money. I will borrow an oscilliscope and make sure the power is not clipping this time around. Any advice on which amp would best safely/cleanly drive a type r/re audio 15" in a 2 cuft sealed encloser to its max would be greatly apprieciated.

That's a really small box for a 15 first off and you might wanna look into different subs to the type r and re subs are ok. But nothing special. And prolly won't take over rated
Alpine recomends 1.75 cuft on a sealed encloser for a type r so I don't think I'll have too much problem. I know a big ported box or even a bigger sealed would hit deeper, but with having the box fit into the center console I needed to keep my space to a minimum or risk the box reaching into the backseat or sitting to high and looking off. I would consider other brands of subs I just want to be able to get reasonable xmax while keeping good sq. I just want to know which amps would be my best bang for my buck to get the most out of a sealed 15 with clean power and not having to worry about having too much rms power. Thanks

I have a Polk pa 1000. 1200 rms for $200 small design. Should work nice on that sub. Literally has 30 min play time
