AM sound normal / FM very soft

I replaced my fossilized Clarion AM radio out of my pickup with a slightly less fossilized AM/FM Clarion Radio. All the electrical hookups were the same to my original radio so basically I just had to plug it in and play.

My problem is with the sound levels. On AM band the sound is normal, however, when switching to FM band you have to turn the volume all the way up full blast in order to hear any of the stations.

Everything else is fine. Reception is good. Picking up all the stations. Just very soft sound on FM band.

Any ideas??????

Okay. I took the radio back out of the truck and hooked it up to battery, antenna, and speakers just sittting on a bench and it still is doing the same thing. AM loud and FM very soft. I tested another stereo with the exact same setup and it worked just fine.

So now I guess I have to decide if it is worth taking apart and messing with. Could it be something as simple as dirty contacts? Don't really have a lot of experience with the insides on these car radios. Maybe i'll just look for another one.
