Hi all. Nice forum you all have here.
I have a 2006 Caddy CTS with the base stero system in it. I really would like to up-grade that for a higher end system with in-dash navigation. If I was to go after-market I would do the whole thing with better speakers, amp and sub. I went to several car audio shops looking at various NAV HUs and getting prices of installation for whole systems. The problem I have with every one I looked at is that as far as I can tell if I install any kind of after-market head unit I will lose the fuction of the "wheel" volume comntrol in the steering wheel and ALL my engine management and monitoring displays. I'm talking abouit my trip computer, low fuel range readout, oil and transmission fluid monitors, MPG estimaters and so on. I probably could live without the "wheel" volume control but, I really do not want to lose any of those engine management/monitoring functions.
In light of that what I was thinking about doing is to up grade my base system to Caddys top of the line Bose system. 2006 year top end CTS's such as the CTS-V all came with in-dash navigation and the Bose sound system. The question I have is how much work and/or expense would I have to comit to having the Bose navigation installed? Also, are there aftermarket options out there that I am not aware of that would allow me to get to my goal of having a great sounding system with in-dash navigation without losing my engine management displays?
Thanks all.
