am i starting out right?

in my old car i had polk momo coax 61/2s and 6x9s, didn't have a chance to power them w/ anything, couldn't decide on a factory head unit. that car got totalled and i didn't have a chance to get the speakers out. my new car (04 nissan se-r spec v) is still completely stock. i have in my closet an Infinity Kappa 100.3se i want to go for sound quality, not volume. i'm lookin for a head unit that has a 7 band EQ and built in sub controls. Im also thinking component speakers in the door(not sure what kind) and Coax in the rear dash. Any suggestions?

I have a jvc with an I-Eq (7 bands) and sub control. http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027149&pathId=54, also if you are looking for subs, i have the audiobahn sound q go with them they are audiobahns premier sound quality sub

and on the door speakers, if you are going for sound quality you should really go for kick pannels they image a whole lot better

for headunits check out crutchfield because they got some deals on last years alpines. i believe a 9830 is like $250 shipped or an eclipse deck like 5444. for components i have been pleased with cdt, dls and adire kodas. liked mentioned above kicks would be nice for imaging, but doors work better for midbass imo. it all depends on what kind of budget you have.

im going to do the installaion myself so as too keep costs down so unless thay make kicks for my car i doubt thats going to happen. im trying not to spend any more than $300 on any one peice of the system, since its going to be one-piece-at-a-time type of thing. and because of that amps and subs will probably be last.

for $300 there is much better then jvc. the alpine 9833 is $299 shipped from crutchfield. that's a pretty nice deal. you can also check around for a used eclipse 8443/8053. also there are probably some pioneer 7600 or 8600 headunits around for under $300. depends on what you want from your headunit. how much power do you have for your components? what size can you use in your doors? cdt HD's would be nice. i wouldn't even bother with real fill. don't need it if you have a good front stage.
