Am i smelling glue from my sub or somethin else?

85% of that would put you...somewhere between 1.3 and 1.4 volts. Id ask if you have any reason to believe your head unit's voltage is that underrated but I believe you already told me how you set your gain. Stop killing your stuff and give it to me.

the optimal setting would be 1.89v.. i calculated it.. that would have me putting out 895w...

i want to do this using a dmm but i would need a 50 Hz test tone right? and a 50Hz test tone would blow my speakers.. i have no way of disconnecting my stock speakers unless i take the HU out.. is there any other way to do it using a dmm that wouldnt require me to unplug my speakers? unplugging the sub isnt a problem

turn your gain down god.
i calculated it.. setting it at 1.89v is what i need.. which is like 80%.. i tried to set it as close as i could to what i thought would be right around 1.89v.. read my post above i want to set it with a dmm but am not sure about a few things.

wow im an idiot... my HU is 5v preout not 4.. my gain should be at 2.36v

i got another question.. is turning up the subwoofer output on my deck the same as increasing the gain on the amp?
