Am I heading in the right direction for SQ? (noob)

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to car audio.

In the beginning I had about $1k to dish out, so I went to circuit city/best buy and let them do the work. I told them I wanted a little bass with alot of loud sound and very good quality.

What I got was:

HU: JVC KD-G310

speakers in doors = 6x9s (i think those are 6x9s) pioneers

speakers in trunks = 250watts pioneers

subwoofers = (2) INFINTY 12" 1230watts

subwoofer = Bazooka ELA5.1 700watts (i dont remember if its 4channel or 2channel)

the infinitys are out of production, here are the ones I had:

Ok that is what I had, all with warranty. Things got ugly as I decided to go my own ways and upgrade this...

First: I bought a Hifonics TX1505D Titan Class-D Mono Channel Car Amplifier (1500 Watts RMS) and used the same wires that came with my bazooka to hook it up to my system. The system was loud as hell and 20 minutes later one of my INFINITY subs was tearing apart (like a piece of paper) while I was watching the subs bump.

Then everything went downhill. After that my headunit stopped functioning correctly. I just took it to best buy today, and he says he can't figure out the problem but it fried his bench (don't know what that means.) I have warranty on that too and will be replacing it (hopefully.)

Anyways, I went back to Circuit City and replaced my INFINITY'S with Kicker CRV's (12"s). They offered me kicker comps and I heard them in another car and didn't like, the guy was playing the CRVS in the showroom and I loved how they sound. I had to dish out a little more money to get them.

So right now, nothing is hooked up. But with what I have, I'm hoping you guys can tell me if I'm going in the right direction, which is 70%SOUNDQUALITY, 20%LOUDNESS, and 10%BASS.

Headunit: JVC KD-G310

speakers in doors = 6x9s (i think those are 6x9s) pioneers

speakers in trunks = 250watts pioneers

Subwoofers = (2) Kicker CVR 12"s link - http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kicker-Dual-12-Subwoofer-Enclosure-Package-DCVR12-/sem/rpsm/oid/117529/catOid/-13641/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

amps = Hifonics TX1505D Titan Class-D Mono Channel Car Amplifier (1500 Watts RMS)

Hifonics Titan TX8805 4-Channel Car Amplifier

+ Kenwood KGC-4042A Graphic Equailizer

+ Audiopipe PK-3000P amp install kit

That is what I have right now and I have no idea how it sounds because I f***ed up my car by trying to do it myself. My budget got ate away after I had to fix some things in my car. I still have a good amount of money to spend (500$-1000$) and I've been told I should get a better headunit and get another battery (don't really understand that.)

Thanks for the help and please show me the way guys. If theres a good place to learn for newbies, like a tutorial site, can you also let me know.

thank you

6x9's in the front is the wrong direction for SQ. You should go with components up front, 5.25 or 6.5, depending on what fits. Hell, you have a 4ch amp, you could go active if you got an active x-over or a HU with one built in. If you do want to keep your rear speakers (I wouldnt, although some do like it), just run it off head unit power.

Sounds like you are in a mess to me. I dont think you are going the right way for sq. The CVR's are a good budget subwoofer that will get loud but in no means is an sq sub. I have never heard of 6x9's in the front, that would be a first for me anyway. What I would do is since you have around a 1000 bucks to spend.

First get a better deck. Eclispe makes a good sq deck.

2nd-Get a componet set up front. I would look online for those, might find some good ones cheap. I recommend, alpine,cdt,diamond,ID,MB quart.

3rd- get some better subs. I would recommend some Image Dynamics Q series. Dont take much to power them and sound great.

4th- do some good 0/1g wire and do the big 3.(There is a tutorial on here in the wiring part.)

5th. Some good deadner( I like hushmat, cheap and does the trick.)

After getting all that, take it too someone who knows what they are doing. CC and BB would be my last choice. I would look for a good local shop with good reputation.

Might be more than 1000 bucks or so, but if you could get some good deals online then you might be able to come close. At least you have an idea. Hope that helped some. Good luck!

asking for some more help...

BestBuy is giving me the full refund on my old JVC HU towards the purchase of another headunit. The stores don't carry much and I've decided to get one of these...

Pioneer DEH-P80MP

Kenwood KDC-MP828

Alpine CDA-9853

And if my bestbuy would agree to let the JVC KD-AVX1 get shipped to their store and sell it to me, I would probably take that overall (the price is huge but the HU is a magnet for my eyes.)

Is the JVC KD-AVX1 better than those other 3 models or is it just more flashy?

my current system:

speakers in doors = 6x9s (i think those are 6x9s) pioneers

speakers in trunks = 250watts pioneers

Subwoofers = (2) Kicker CVR 12"s link - http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kicke...oductDetail.do

amps = Hifonics TX1505D Titan Class-D Mono Channel Car Amplifier (1500 Watts RMS)

Hifonics Titan TX8805 4-Channel Car Amplifier

+ Kenwood KGC-4042A Graphic Equailizer

+ Audiopipe PK-3000P amp install kit

thank you

I hate to say this but thats far from Sound Quality. First thing you need to do is ditch those 6x9s and getsome 6.5s. also for the HU get the CA-9853, Ive got the 9855 and its a great HU. Also the CVRs are an SPL type of sub not sound quality but in the right enclosure they can sound decent. but other than that, from the looks of things you have a long journey ahead of you.

im not trying to mean but like stated above, so far that setup is so far away from sq. also as stated above find a way to fit components in there and you'll thank us later. subs aren't sq. i say you should upgrade the HU a bit so you don't have to buy the graphic equalizer and buy a nice HU that has a built in PEQ and you should be set. maybe the alpine 9855 or 9835 (if you could find one).

def. alpine or eclipse, def components in front, I like the mb quarts that one guy mentioned, 2 tens, maybe jl if u can. By the way when it come to subwoofer clarity and overall sq, the enclosure is about 80% of the importance. You could spen 1000 dollars on a sub and put it in a pre-fab box and it will sound like 5 dollar sub. Just keep that in mind
