Can you solve it?
Hi everyone!

I need some help with my new car. I just bought a 2002 dodge stratus and I want to redo the audio. Currently I have a jl 12w3, a us amp 300, a ppi sedona 65X4 and CDT audio 6.5 component set, and a pair of RE 8's. Now the only thing I'm really wanting to keep for sure is the CDT for the front and the RE's. I would like to get a really good box design that would take up as little room in the trunk as possible and still fit 2 10's. I'm thinking ED or RE for my subs. Does anyone have a good suggestion or have a stratus that they installed a good box for?

Thanks for any help,

Justin

I've never heard or used Image Dynamics. They are geared more towards SQ right? Thats my number one goal. Lower power high SQ.

Thanks for the help,

Justin

Well, as the owner of a Stratus R/T, I can tell you that 90% of prebuilt boxes will not fit through the opening of the trunk. While the trunk is huge, the opening is tiny. My 4 cubic ft. box will squeeze through the opening, but it takes up a lot more room than I would like it to, but I need to be able to get it out sometimes. As soon as I get my digital camera back up and working, I'll snap a pic to show you what I'm talking about. While your box won't be as big as mine, make sure you make them put the box in your trunk before you buy it, because I've seen a ton of people who bought boxes over the internet only to find out that they wouldn't fit through the opening in the trunk.

And BTW: Check out http://www.2gstratus.org if you haven't already, it's a website dedicated to the 2 door Stratus, mostly the R/T.

Hey man, thanks for the link! Also, thanks for the info. I didn't really consider the opening but not that I have looked at it, I see what you mean! I'm honestly hoping to use very little space. That never goes as planned though :p

Thanks again,

Justin

Does your stratus have the center speaker? Should I consider having that changed or just disconnect it when I have the new system installed? Also, did you have to remove the door panels to install the 6.5's or did the grilles come off of the door?

I just unhooked the center speaker, and found a cover out of an SE Stratus without the holes and the diplay, It just says "STRATUS" on it. You have to take the door panels off to replace the 6.5's. Those straps that you pull the door shut with is bolted on pretty good, just unsnap the little covers on the end, and I think it's a 12mm bolt in both the top and bottom, and then the door panels pretty much just snap off. There are inserts in the doors for the speakers that angle them up for a better sound stage, which is nice. I know my Memphis tweeters fit perfectly in the factory tweeter pods also, you can't even tell I've changed them.

Well that doesn't sound horribly hard to do. I have a set of CDT audio that I plan on replacing the infiniti set with. I kinda like the look of the dash with the display, but I don't really think the center channel makes too much of a difference. I think it would end up being more of a headache trying to wire it then it would be worth. Thanks for the help on removing the door. I can't wait to switch those speakers out.
