today i had a big problem and me and my dad figured out we are only getting 12.22 volts when the car is on so I unhooked my alarm and stereo and still 12.22 volts. so I need to get a new alternator. anybody know where they would sell a high amp output alternator for a 1988 toyota camry 4dr. 2.0L engine

Well you could have it rewound.. Yours is putting out 80amps right?

12.2 vdc is very bad. You need to replace the alt regardless. If you don't do it soon (from 3 days to 3 months depending), the batt will wear out as well.

If you dont have cash for a "h.o." alt right now, get a stocker in there at least.

I suggest Ohio Gen.

ok I got a new alternator, but than yesterday it went out again and I'm replacing it for free from napa, and I also ordered a 150AMP alternator from Mralternator.com. Should I also do the big 3 upgrade when I install this new alternator? battery ground, motor, ground, alternator to battery (fused) in 4awg wire?
