Alternator?

Hi everyone,

I had a quick question for the experts regarding an alternator. I am currently upgrading my system to incorporate 3500 watts RMS of bass and 1500 RMS for speakers. I'm upgrading batteries to two XS Power D1400's and would like to know what kind of alternator would be trusted to recharge the batteries quickly. How many amps should the alt. put out?

Thanks for your help guys!

Xs power are very good batterys. Find an equivalent size 12 volt. Battery. Both of the amps you listed are mono amps. Which one are you planning to use. 14 volt Batts and charging system may cause significant issues on a late model vechicle. We need more information.

They'll be in different boxes run at different frequencies. The 12's will basically act like large mids and the 10's will be for legit low bass. I hate when a sub is competing for bass and hit. Sounds too distorted for my taste, so after research, that's what I found works best.

I came here to ask for help on an alternator. I didn't ask for help with my woofer setup.

There are many alt companies available. I run and rep singer. If you run the d 1400. Good choice btw you'll run your alt at 15.3-15.8. Get the alt externally regulated and I suggest a singer 270 hairpin. It gives 270-300 max. But 200 amps at idle. Which our trucks are at 600-700 rpm

Now that's much more helpful! So, in your opinion, is Singer better than Mechman?
Both are about the same with most alt companies what makes a difference is customer service if there's an issue. Also warranty every alt company has good and bad issues. No way around that. It's electrical. Kind of nature of the beast

Ain't that the truth... Last question and then the thread can be closed. Is this alt ( Mechman Alternators G-8206270 (g8206270) 270 Amp G Series ) a good choice? If not, why?
