Alternator?

I can't explain why, but I got a second battery for the trunk and did the Big 3 and it completely eradicated all dimming problems, and I'm running 1000 watt sub amp and 400 watts to my speakers... I can crank it for a good while before I have any voltage problems... like 2 hours or more... but I'm upgrading my alt soon so I won't have this problem anymore... if you can even call it a problem... lol definitely do Big 3 and if it's still necessary to upgrade get a new battery or a trunk battery

FYI. Electricity comes from the path of least resistance. If the alternator is supplying a higher voltage than the battery (above 13) then the alternator supplies ALL power. Only when the demand is above what the alt can supply and the voltage drops to that of the battery, does the battery supply power.

I know the alt is the main supply once the vehicle is started.However I was speaking from the standpoint that once a second battery is added the first battery isn't required to work as hard when voltage drops to below alt output.

As Ignore said it becomes one big battery and doesn't have to dischrage and recharge as much had there only been one battery.
