alternator upgrade question.

OK I have around 2700 watts RMS in my 06 frontier on a 110amp stock alt, I already did the BIG 3, have 2 yellow tops(with isolator). I found a shop that can upgrade the same alt to 190amps for 185. I also found another place that sells me a 250amp alt for 450. I am in a budget so will i be good to go with the 190amp and maybe another yellow top. GRACIAS

you should be very good. the 250 amp alt would be a better choice, but for 2700 it would not be needed.

so do you think i should add a third batt, and crazy question will i be allright for now with the 110amp alt. I don't bump for long periods. what do you think

Not to hj your thread but what did you do about the current sensor on the factory ground wire? I have a frontier also and everything i've read says do not bypass it.

please clarify this current scensor thing. I'm thinking it has something to do with upgrading the alternator.

No, I was talking about the ''Big 3" ground. Wanted to know if you ran the new ground threw the sensor or just added the bigger ground?

If you ran your amp at full tilt it would take around 195 amps. Since that's rare, 185 amps with 2 existing YTops should be fine.

If you currently don't have dimming lights, then the upgrade isn't necessary. It just means the stock alt will be over worked and will fail more quickly. I don't know if that would make the upgrade on it more expensive or not.
