upgrading my 2000 v6 mustang alternator next week. I'm pushing around 3000 watts and my lights atart dimming about 15 minutes after music play. my thought is the alt cant keep up with the power leaving the battery so my question is, my stock alt is 105 amp but I see them online ranging from 160 to 250 amps. should I get the biggest I can afford or could too big do damage something somehow

I'd get the biggest you can afford and fit in your vehicle and possibly upgrade your battery under the hood to something hefty. Otherwise an aux battery might be an option paired with a higher output alt.

For 3000 watts rms a 275 amp hairpin is what you'll need it will leave room for a larger amp. Up to 4K big 3. Replace the batt under hood with a Agm. And a group 31 in the rear. And your set
